Approximately three months ago, I was approached by Veritas Farms, asking if I would be willing to test and review some of their CBD products. I’ve heard a lot about CBD in the past year, and I decided that it would be a worthwhile endeavor to get my hands on these products. Veritas Farms bills its products as Full Spectrum Hemp Oil — More Than Just CBD.

In the interest of full disclosure, Veritas Farms provided me the samples free of charge in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

CBD oil comes from marijuana plants. It’s short for cannabidiol, which is a chemical compound from the cannabis plant. It’s not the same as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), as it is not psychoactive, meaning that it will not get you high. The folks who sell and market CBD oil list many benefits, including promoting a sense of calm, relaxation, and helping people sleep better. It’s important to know that these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. In fact, the only CBD medication that is currently FDA-approved is Epidiolex, which the Administration approved last year for the treatment of certain types of epilepsy.

That said, people swear by the benefits of CBD oil. Recently, as reported in Forbes, Cowen analysts predicted the revenue of this market will be $16 billion by 2025. The estimated retail sales of CBD consumer products in 2018 ranged between $600 million and $2 billion. It seems like these products are everywhere, from high-end health and wellness boutiques to the local gas station.

My Personal Experience with CBD Products

For 30 days, I took two CBD gummies per day and used the Full Spectrum CBD Lotion on my hands. The lotion is advertised as, “A soothing lotion contains full spectrum hemp extract and ultra-moisturizing shea butter, as well as organic jojoba-seed oil, grapeseed oil, and aloe.” I’m not in the position to say whether or not the gummies were high quality, though they did appear to be. I can say, however, that the lotion was some of the best I’ve ever used. It wasn’t greasy or oily and it smelled very nice. I prefer my lotions to be on the thicker side, and it was.

During the trial period, I never once felt “high.” Many people are concerned that using CBD products will impair their ability to drive (as an example) and I can absolutely confirm that they did not cause any mental impairment. Veritas farms has a great FAQ on their website that addresses why it won’t get you high, and even covers other questions you may be curious about, such as, “Will using a CBD product cause me to fail a drug test?” I really like that they address these questions in a straightforward way. Working with them is very professional, very easy, and ― despite my initial reservations ― it didn’t feel “wrong” or “seedy” in nature. Turns out television is not a good place to get information about the CBD and hemp industry as a whole!

Back to my personal experience. To answer the question of whether it worked for me, the short answer is no, it did not. During my 30-day trial, I saw no actual benefits. I didn’t sleep better, wasn’t more relaxed, and my stress was not relieved. But, it’s important to point out that I am just one person and that CBD oil did nothing negative for me, either. Every person’s body chemistry is different and, just like everyone prefers different types of foods, different substances interact with people in different ways.

I’m always quick to point out, when writing about any medication, that your mileage may vary, and buyer beware. I can vouch that Veritas Farms is a straightforward, honest, and professional company that has a high-quality product. I’m grateful for the opportunity to see if it worked for me.

. . . And I’ll be a fan of their lotion for life!
